VRC RELEASED
14 Apr 06:
Developed by Ross Carlson, VRC is offered as an alternative to, and certainly not
as a replacement for ASRC,
the de facto standard ATC client for VATSIM. VRC has been designed from the beginning
for use on systems with multiple monitors. The goal has been to keep the primary
radar scope as uncluttered as possible by keeping all secondary functions (chat,
flight strip editing, display control, etc.) in floating windows intended to be positioned
on a side monitor.
VRC is available at: http://www.metacraft.com/VRC/
VOICE POLICY CHANGE
14 Mar 06:
With effect from Monday 13th March 2006, VATSIM has implemented a new policy regarding voice
communication on the network. All controllers are now authorised, and indeed encouraged
to use voice whenever practical to provide ATC. We firmly believe that using voice
has long been considered and desired by the majority of membership as the preferred
means of communicating on VATSIM, and it is a further step to achieving a sim that
really is "as real as it gets". Pilots and controllers may continue to use text if
they prefer.

EUD UIRs ATC
VATSIM Europe Division's UIR sectors are in effect, as agreed to by
the majority of all its VACC staff members.
Eurocenter VACC have
been designated by VATEUD to be responsible for the joint Upper
Information Regions (UIRs), ATC manning and relevant procedures.
Background:
The whole of Europe Division have been split into five parts (Identifiers:
N, E, S, W & M). Each UIR ATC, when online, will be controlling all
air traffic flying in airspace above FL245 and belonging to one of the
five sectors.
Once a local CTR comes online, all local upper level traffic will be
transferred to the CTR (the same way it's been functioning until today).
This is Europe before and after UIR
ATC. No more lonely flights across those upper European Skies!
For more information, please visit the Eurocenter
VACC's webpage.
VATSIM DIVISION SELECTION PROCEDURE
A new procedure is online in order to enable sorting of our members.
Go to: http://vatsim.net,

Please do this as soon as possible since it will enable us to start
ATC Upgrades & Membership procedures. It takes 5 seconds and you
will need your ID & Password to proceed.

you complete this procedure. This will be mentioned quite often in Training
Department related documentation.
